Here in Charlotte, NC, we’re at the point in the year where it’s chilly in the morning but by the afternoon we’re facing mid-70-degree temps.

I don’t hate it, but it does make getting dressed for the day slightly unpredictable.

Y’all know I love my layers, though, because I have been talking about them for weeks now on the blog. They allow me to dress for the low morning temperatures and slowly shed clothes if I need throughout the day to accommodate for the rising degrees.

Today’s outfit of the day is a perfect example of how I have been layering for fall.

#OOTD Fall Layers

I took a dress I already had in my closet — this short-sleeve light chambray shirt dress from Old Navy — and layered over it the boatneck Old Navy sweater from my try-on session last week. To take the outfit one more step, I added this green lightweight quilted vest, also from Old Navy.

For shoes, I decided on my taupe over-the-knee boots I scored at Marshalls earlier in the season for under $20.

Sizing information: I sized up from a medium to a large in this dress for added length (I feel more comfortable wearing it to work at this length) and I sized down from a medium to a small in the sweater. I’m wearing my normal size medium in the vest.
