It feels good to be back home after visiting Texas for a few days. As much as I love traveling, I missed our pups and our home way too much.
Before too much time slips away, I wanted to share these adorable pajamas that I scooped up specifically for our weekend getaway.
Good vibes only because we’re headed to Texas today!
If you read my recent blog post about all the emotions I’ve felt lately while trying to get pregnant, then you probably recognize that some time away in a new place is what my husband and I needed to recharge our spirits.
We just returned home from visiting my brother and sister-in-law in California, where we spent a week soaking up some much-needed sunshine — it literally snowed in North Carolina the day I flew out here … in March … insert side-eye emoji — and being super touristy.

Happy Wednesday, friends! I have officially been in California for one week, and I’m going to be honest with you … I’m getting a little homesick. I wonder if my dogs miss me as much as I miss them?
Anywho. This past week has been amazing and filled with yummy food and wonderful sights.
We still have two days left before we’re back home, but I wanted to go ahead and share one of my favorite places I visited during this adventure: The Anaheim Packing House.

Greetings from California, friends!
I’m at a work conference in Anaheim this week, and next week the hubby is joining me out here and we’re heading to Los Angeles for vacation.
I’m still trying to adjust to the time change but want to share the handful of things I absolutely had to pack for 10 days on the left coast.

As my husband and I prepare to travel to California for our big vacation of the year, I can’t help but feel anxious about the cost of the trip at this exact time in our life.
I truly can’t help it. I am naturally a worrier, and traveling across the country while we are also in the process of buying our first home has my “worry-wart” instincts working overtime. This is despite the fact that we have been budgeting for this trip since late last year.

While my day job is in marketing, I occasionally take on freelance design, editing, and writing projects when I have the time and when the project appeals to me.
Recently, I had the pleasure of working with my friends at Mello Coffee Roasters in Davidson, NC, to create a new label for their coffee bags.

I started blogging in 2015 as a way to talk about my struggles and experiences as a motherless daughter. At the time, my site was called “Roots & Wings,” and I hoped to connect with other women who lost their mothers at a young age and even young girls just beginning their journey as a motherless daughter.
When I lost my mom at 19, I didn’t have anyone to talk to who understood the loss I was experiencing at that age. In beginning this blog, I wanted to potentially be a safe place for young women to turn to if they needed to talk.
I will always remember the first time I received a message from a girl who stumbled across my blog and felt comfortable enough to open up her heart to me. I could relate to everything she shared, and reading her words made me feel like the time and energy I put in to this blog was worth it. If I could be there for one person, it was worth it.

We just got back from Walt Disney World, where we spent seven days celebrating our honeymoon in the most magical way possible.
Spending Christmas at Disney and being in Magic Kingdom on Christmas Day has always been a top bucket list item for me (and Justin by default), and I am so happy we did it now before we start growing our family. No, I am not pregnant, but this trip was definitely the one big thing we wanted to do before we have children.
Despite the crowds and me coming down with a cold, we had so much fun.
Now that we’re home and settled back in to our normal routine, I am ready to share our favorite memories from the trip.

Does anyone else pack for vacation two weeks before they leave and spend six months after you get home trying to unpack?
I am 100-percent guilty of this. I just get so excited before a trip that I can’t wait to put my suitcase together.
If you’re reading this, it’s because we are heading to Walt Disney World for our Christmas honeymoon.
